Interior designer Nara Munro perfects the formula for inspired spaces that elevate the everyday

Of the many tangible and intangible elements that come together to form a perfect interior, Nara Munro sees one as fundamental: the client.

“We want to create a place where you feel your best, and the most important element in doing that is you,” Munro says. “Every design grows from getting to know my clients and what works for them.”

Known for her bright and airy interiors that are as welcoming as they are sophisticated, Munro and her team at The Munro Project specialize in full renovations, new builds, full-service interior design, and schematic planning. They work closely with clients to create tailor-made designs.

Photos, Pinterest boards, and many conversations about what clients love—and what they don’t—give Munro a springboard to create fresh, personalized, and highly functional homes.

“I ask a lot of questions,” she laughs. “What do you love about a photo? Is it the lighting? The color? A piece of furniture? How do you live in your home—do you have children, pets, or entertain? My goal is a cozy, happy space you love spending time in.”

Munro’s thoughtful approach has earned her multiple accolades, including two national Wayfair Tastemakers Awards and a Detroit Design Award for her innovative powder room design.

Her background as a product engineer informs the more practical aspects of her design process. With an engineer’s eye for detail in her renderings and project planning, Munro provides her clients with an attainable roadmap that meets their needs—financially, functionally, and aesthetically—while delighting in opportunities to expand their comfort zone along the way.

“I love hearing we’ve achieved something a client never would have thought of—or thought possible,” Munro says. “That’s the ultimate compliment.”
